Having spent time at Ping’s headquarters in Arizona, we have seen first-hand that Ping never cut corners with
their equipment. Every Ping club you buy is checked and re-checked, making sure you get the best they have to
offer, every time! The G400 irons are no exception to this. Although the G400 irons have been out for some time
now, they are still current in the Ping line up. The irons have comfortably outperformed the previous G model in
sales, and they’ve proved to be a force to be reckoned with in the golf business.
The G400’s higher MOI means they are more stable and forgiving than the G irons. Ping’s COR Eye technology
and new undercut channel at the top of the club-head, allows for more face flexing for higher launch angles
without sacrificing anything in the distance department. In testing we were very impressed with the launch
results considering the lower lofts on the irons. This has posed a problem for a few manufactures when making
irons with stronger lofts. The mid to lower lofted clubs would always launch too low and as a result, stopping on
the greens would become a real problem, which proved to be no problem at all for Ping’s G400 irons.
Ping’s chrome hydropearl finish is also a great feature in the G400 irons. It reduces friction on the club face
to increase launch and spin from the rough and wet grass lies. We have to admit that we didn’t see any real
change in numbers during testing, but we were happy with the distance and stopping power we got from the
unfavourable lies. Ping have also incorporated elastomer into the back of the club, giving them a superb feel at
Who do these irons suit? What impressed us most was how easy the irons launched despite the G400’s stronger
lofts. If the G400 irons still don’t have enough power for you, you can order them in the even stronger power
spec version, binoculars are not included. The G400 irons are ideal for the mid to high handicap golfers, looking
for higher launch angles without losing any valuable distance, and they look and feel great. Buying a set of Ping
G400 irons will prove to be money well spent.
Innovative face-flexing technology launches the ball faster and higher to give you tour-level distance with stopping power and forgiveness. The multi-material G400 iron flexes like a catapult as COR-Eye Technology and a top rail undercut launch the ball higher and farther.
- COR-Eye Technology generates faster ball speeds
- Toprail undercut cavity increases face flex
- Hydropearl Chrome Finish reduces friction by 40%
